Yorkshire UK
Yorkshire is the biggest county in the United Kingdom and is divided into four regions:
- West Yorkshire
- South Yorkshire
- East Yorkshire also known as Humberside
- North Yorkshire
The Yorkshire Tourist Board, responsible for promoting the region around the world, ddiscovered that over 35% of the visitors to the region were drawn to the area by the world famous Heartbeat TV and book series. The writer is still alive and lives a modest life in a small village on the edge of his beloved North Yorkshire Moors and his prolific writings have been selling for nearly 40 years including his best selling series of crime novels set in the area, and based upon his earlier job as a village 'bobby' (a local policeman) based at Oswaldkirk, near Helmsley, North Yorkshire. Heartbeat, set in the 1960s, was based on the books of Peter Walker, who wrote under the pen name Nicholas Rhea.
The diversity is vast, from the economic powerbases of the City of Leeds and surrounding region of West Yorkshire, and the City of Sheffield and region of South Yorkshire to the some of the UK's most popular tourist destinations in North and East Yorkshire

Leeds is the fastest growing city in the UK including multinationals. The first UK internet bank, First Direct, parts of the respected HSBC group, has its headquarters here. The area is well know for its specialist manufacturing companies, who have been competing against stiff global competition in their niche sectors.
Sheffield is also a strong economic centre and it the beacon of the regions small amd medium sized manufacturing enterprises.
Harrogate is a world leader in conferences and events, and the 3rd biggest in the UK.
